Hurricane Ida

Hurricane Ida is obviously not a loner; she chose some the most populous regions of south Louisiana to demolish on Sunday and Monday. Perhaps underestimated by folks in The Big Easy, Ida came to call nevertheless.  With her western eyewall grazing West New Orleans and flooding much of Hammond, she is no longer a welcome stranger there.

Ida will not be forgotten for many years to come.  The loss of Entergy’s power grid from Grand Isle to New Orleans will bring continued misery and potential fatalities to folks living there.  Perhaps Ida will be known as Louisiana’s summer deep freeze, as the effects of this hurricane on south Louisiana’s power grid is not unlike the losses felt by ERCOT of Texas during the big freeze of February, 2021.

Ida has moved inland.  But the Gulf of Mexico waters are still warm as bath water.  Another dangerous hurricane is likely to develop there during the month of September!
